Ramu sets out on the long and winding road that leads to the door of Health Education for schools and communities living in the remote villages in the Gulmi area of Nepal. Supported by the Nestling Trust www.nestlingtrust.co.uk Ramu will be delivering a pilot programme to include hygiene issues, nutrition, sexual health etc
The Nestling Trust working with our partner NGO Himshikhara, funded a health education initiative bringing Health Education to the remote villages around Gulmi. It was to run from from April '16 to September'16 targeting children in secondary schools as well as the village communities.
Ramu Pandey who studied health education in Nepal as well as the UK, taught pupils and their teachers, women's health workers and village community groups, subjects which included hygiene, nutrition, sexual health, contraception, drugs and alcohol. The programme was well received by schools and communities who were eager to learn Mebu is a remote village in the Dolakha region of Nepal - it has no healthcare. Since February talks have been underway with the Nestling Trust and the District Health Officer, to support a health project to be piloted here - the villagers wait and wonder if it really can be true!
