The Nestling Trust is proud to be working with mOm Incubators on a project that has the potential to save the lives of many vulnerable babies in Nepal.
We wish to express our thanks to mOm Incubators for their generosity in providing the incubators.
Mom Incubators are generously donating three incubators to Nepal to help reduce the neonatal mortality rate in remote rural areas.
The Nestling Trust, in collaboration with the Nepal Ministry of Health, is delighted to be working with mOm Incubator team to ensure that the incubators are placed within the most needy areas where they can be used for maximum benefit. Two District hospitals have been chosen: Mugu District Hospital, located in Karnali Province in the Northwestern region of Nepal, with a population of approximately 64,550; and Sankhuwasabha District Hospital in Koshi Province of Eastern Nepal, with a population of approximately 159,046. Mugu has one incubator, which is totally inadequate for the wide population it serves, and the other has no incubator at all.
A Nestling Trust representative who has undergone training from mOm's will deliver the incubators to the respective hospitals and train staff in non-medical procedures. Training in the use of the incubators, including long-term maintenance, will be provided via Zoom by the mOm online team.
The Nestling Trust will be responsible for liaising with hospital staff and collecting data, which will be sent to mOm's for assessment.
These incubators can provide a stable, warm environment as well as oxygen for babies born early or at term who are vulnerable.
During power outages, the incubators can be run from a car battery. They are lightweight, collapsible and easily transported.
