The night of 24th November '23 was a fantastic evening to remember!
Thank you to everyone who came to share The Nestling Trust's10th Anniversary fundraising dinner, it was a huge success. The Trust is immensely grateful to Peter Johnson who allowed us to use his amazing venue and transform it into what was reminiscent of a Himalayan Lodge bedecked with prayer flags and poinsettias, a flower native to Nepal, and Peter Vaughan and his Team who prepared the most delightful Nepalese-inspired menu. Peter Vaughan also intrigued guests with tales and legends transporting us away to the foothills of the Himalayas and giving tantalising descriptions of the dishes to be served.
Music played by Andrew Hurst created just the right atmosphere for what was a very special and happy event.
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and The Nestling Trust is very aware that our work in helping the needy and the most vulnerable, over the past ten years, has only been possible due to the generosity of our supporters. We have been overwhelmed by the level of support and trust placed upon us - thank you most sincerely.

A nationwide online match funding campaign which helps many different charities raise millions of pounds each year.
It runs for 1 week from 28th Nov to 5th Dec 2023

​This has become our biggest fund raising event of the year and is central to our being able to continue our work bringing health care and health education to poor remote communities in Nepal. Funds raised this year will go towards making the now completed Baiteshwor Health and Birthing Centre fully operational so that it can bring safe birthing and medical services to 12,000 people in this mountainous area.

​Key supporters and a philanthropic ‘champion’ have pledged to match up to £6,000 of online donations made to us during the campaign. If enough generous people donate online and release the match funding we hope to reach our target.

There has been a devastating earthquake in the midwest of Nepal. According to reports say that more than 150 people have been killed and hundreds injured with huge destruction of homes and buildings. The epicentre is the Jarjarkot and west Rukum area about 200 miles west of Pokhara. We await news of our friends, colleagues and the stsff and children at the Sarangkot Nestling Home.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all people affected by this terrible disaster.

Natural disasters such as lanslides are a common occurence in Nepal especially after heavy rains. Yesterday the track near the Sarangkot Nestling Home was blocked by a significant landslide which meant the girls had to find another route to reach theirl school situated about half a mile down the mountainside. Thankfully noone was hurt and no homes were destroyed.

The happiest of days!
​ The Baiteshwor Health and Birthing Centre was inaugurated on 27th May '23. It is in a mountainous village area where previously there were no birthing facilities. Approximately 12,000 people live in this remote area of Dolakha, Nepal.
The Nestling Trust is immensely grateful to everyone who has been involved with this project which has been completed in collaboration with the Nepal Government. We thank our partner NGO, HDS-Nepal, the engineer, Madhav Regmi for his commitment and outstanding skills, and all those who helped prepare the land and took part in building this great facility. We understand the huge effort required to work in such harsh terrain with basic equipment and we thank you most sincerely.
The Nestling Trust is also very aware that none of this would be possible without the generosity of all our supporters - this wonderful achievement is thanks to each and everyone who believed this could be possible, and because of you, it is now a reality - thank you.

The sun appeared to crown the afternoon at the Duck Races event at Meadowside, Little Cheverell.
The Nestling Trust would like to thank Vanessa and Darrell Reburn most sincerely for organising and hosting such a wonderful afternoon in their beautiful garden. Young and old enjoyed the excitement and anticipation of watching their chosen individually painted ducks, navigate their way along the bubbling stream, cheering them on to the final bridge. There were other activities for the children to enjoy while teas and delicious homemade cakes were served.

Bijen , Nestling Trust director in Nepal, has set himself a challenge to run a hundred miles this month raising funds to help establish the Health and Birthing Centre in Baiteshwor. His route takes in the sights and sounds of Kathmandu. Since injuring his knee and undergoing surgery Bijen has not been able to continue with competitive foob all. He has now taken up running and with a great purpose! Well done and good luck Bijen!

This week the WHO highlighted the urgent need for countries in SE Asia including Nepal, to strengthen healthcare systems to help prevent, detect, and manage birth defects. The Nestling Trust together with the Nepal government has funded the construction of a new Health and Birthing Centre at Baiteshwor, now complete. Negotiations are currently underway with the new Nepalese government, for work to commence on clearing the outside area to make access for emergency vehicles - this requires a gabion retention wall, and for staffing of the centre.
