In September 2024 floods swept through many regions of Nepal. In Bethanchowk Village - many died when homes were washed away.
The water system for the village was also destroyed leaving the village without drinking water.
Himshikhara our partner NGO, and Bijen Nestling Trust director, consulted the village development committee to determine how best to provide drinking water for the remaining homes and village school. Funding was provided by The Nestling Trust and a Rotary Club in Italy.
We are delighted to say that work to provide new piping and a permanent concrete water tank has now been completed – villagers helped with construction and now 70 houses and the school have a supply of clean drinking water.
