The Swinging 60's and 70's returned last night at a Nestling Trust fundraising evening, as Bruce Hopkins delighted an audience with favourite songs of the era. The Nestling Trust would like to thank Bruce, and everyone who came, and helped to make the evening such a success!
The Nestling Trust is delighted to learn that Poonam, a 15 year old Nepali girl, suffering from Neurocysticercosis, has been free from seizures since undergoing life saving treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Delhi early this year.
After seeking medical advice in Nepal, the Trust agreed to fund Poonam, to go to India for assessment and appropriate treatment, Neurocysticercosis is a specific form of cysticercosis which is caused by larvae of tapeworm in the brain. Cysts formed by the infection grow within the brain causing fits or epileptic seizures. Poonam's condition was deteriorating fast and her family did not have the means to help her in any way. The Nestling Trust would like to thank all staff of the Apollo Hospital, Delhi for their care, skills and dedication in helping Poonam recover. Our thanks also to Himshikhara, our partner NGO, for the big part they played in the organisation of this project. Poonam is now back in school and leading a normal life, we wish her well.. |
