The Nestling Trust is delighted to learn that Ram, a fifteen year old Nepali boy who required a lifesaving bone marrow transplant has had the operation and is recovering well. Ram's sister, the donor, showed amazing bravery, she sadly became ill during the procedure, thankfully she is also now recovering well.
Hospital treatment has to be paid for in Nepal, family, friends, neighbours and whole communities come together to try to raise enough funds to pay for the high cost of operations. Often the patients are from very poor families and poor communities and it can be impossible or take years to find the necessary funds to pay for operations. The Nestling Trust is grateful to SITARA our partner NGO, for giving us the opportunity to have helped in a very small way so that Ram has this chance of life.
