A Health Clinic at Chilankha in the foothills of the Himalayas was once just a dream. The only access is by a narrow track across the mountains - impassable during the monsoon season. But in 2016 the Nestling Trust working with their partner NGO, SITARA, and the District Health Authority, visited the area, and agreed to fund materials so villagers could build their own Health Clinic. It was completed later in 2016. The Trust has suppled necessary equipment and continues to give support to the nurses.
Jeep a three year old boy, was one of the first patients seen in the clinic. He was actually found during the clinics construction. A large swelling covered one side of his face - it had been like it for many months, causing him great discomfort. The Nestling Trust arranged for him to be seen at a hospital in Cherkot. He was subsequently sent home under the care of nurses at the Chilankha Health Clinic.
Jeep is fully recovered and leading a happy normal life. Chilankha Clinic serves a population of approximately 6000 people.
